Levi wall shelf for Swedese

Inspired by the Shaker movement's wall-mounted furniture and the beautiful shapes of the Lamino armchair, Swedese unveils Levi, designed by Andreas Klippinge. Levi is a wall shelf with open sides, where the shelves rest on arched wooden brackets, with a design language that is both understated and effortless.

Introducing Alta designed for Nola

During the Stockholm furniture fair 2024, the Alta series of lounge furniture for indoor and outdoor use was presented. Alta is Andreas Klippinge Design's first collaboration with Nola. Their products can be found in almost every Swedish city and Nola's market-leading range extends from classic forms to expressive designs for everything from dynamic public outdoor environments and parks to traffic and pedestrian streets.

Alta is inspired by steel furniture from the early 1900s, the modular concept allows the same piece of furniture to be adapted from a pouf to a bench, to a lounge chair and on to a screened sofa.

Alta is a furniture series that combines style and functionality in an elegant way. It strives to be simple, robust and inclusive while being adaptable to different needs and situations.

Kompis becomes part of public artwork

My park sofa "Kompis" will get several new friends when the artwork "Inflyttarna" by Johanna Karlin is unveiled today, Saturday 30 September. The location is Stockholm's newest square, Hagaplan, outside Nya Karolinska.

The Kompis seats are part of an installation with a number of benches from different parts of Sweden. Kompis are part of the constellation "Utlöparna", which emerges from the underground and at the same time brings up the colours of Hagaplan metro station with it.

Andreas Klippinge receives a one-year work scholarship

I am so happy and honored to tell you that I am one of several recipients of a one-year working grant from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee. The scholarships are aimed at professional artists and are intended to provide time for continued artistic work. Guiding for the distribution is artistic quality, that the applicant is working and has financial need for the scholarship.

Tamburin expands at Stockholm Furniture Fair

During Stockholm furniture fair 2023 the hallway furniture manufacturer Essem Design presented a new member in the product family Tamburin, designed by Andreas Klippinge. The space saving Tamburin hook strip lies flat against the wall and the hooks fold out with a flick of the finger when needed.

With Tamburin, function is always in focus, it is the basis of the product family, a straight and rounded shape follows. Which in turn is characterized by natural oak or stained ash and painted steel sheet. The noble wood stands for the feeling and high quality of the furniture and the metal for its finesse. Enjoy!

Lyster for ateljé Lyktan

I am so happy because today I found ateljé Lyktan introducing my first design for the company. Lyster a robust luminaire with a modern design language.

Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, is a lighting manufacturer with an 85-year long history and an archive of lights that have defined Swedish design over the last century. It feels great for my studio to be associated with one of my absolute favorite design companies! I am already looking forward working together with the fantastic people at ateljé Lyktan again.

Crisis Scholarship 3

AKD is one of 2,555 Swedish artists that has been granted a crisis scholarship in visual and applied arts. The Swedish Arts Grants Committee's Crisis Scholarship 3 is part of the crisis support the government has decided on due to the corona crisis. The crisis scholarship would support artists due to the financial consequences of covid-19. Crisis Scholarship 3 could be applied for by professional artists at a professional level in visual and applied arts, music, theater, film, dance and circus.

Region Kronoberg's extra work scholarship

AKD is happy to announce that the studio has been awarded Region Kronoberg's extra work scholarship 2020. 30 culture creators received Region Kronoberg's extra cultural scholarships of SEK 30,000. During the autumn, the Culture Committee in Växjö decided on initiatives to support creators in Kronoberg during the Corona Pandemic. Among other things, 30 extra work scholarships of SEK 30,000 were introduced for artistic activities in the field of culture.

Tamburin on show at Stockholm Furniture Fair

We have all seen and used their products, as manufacturer of Scandinavia's most well-known hallway furnitures. But have you met the fantastic people behind Essem Design? At Stockholm Furniture Fair 2020 you will get the chance!

Factory visit @ Essem Design + AMV

I had two fantastic factory visits at Essem Design and AMV in Anderstorp today. Regarding the Tamburin products that I have designed for Essem Design.

A big THANKS to all the people and companies involved in the very precise manufacturing process of the Tamburin products: Robert, Sten-Roger and Magdalena at Essem Design AB and Thomas and Ulrik at AMV AB.

In the pictures you see me inspecting the Tamburin shoe rack and also the fixture used when assembling the Tamburin products – both designed by Andreas Klippinge Design – looking great! ;-)

Kompis park bench, designed for Lappset, has made an appearance in Beindersheim, Germany. A well designed Activity Park for elderly people and toddlers with perfect placed benches and litter bins. This is a very nice example of a park designed different generations.

Lappset create active park for all ages in Rovaniemi

The whole city's sports park from Lappset activates everyone! When you want to take a break and sit down, you relax on furnitures from the Lappset Nifo series, by Andreas Klippinge Design.

The Rovaniemi Central Park Sports Park combines three generations, providing solutions for playing, sports, senior sports and also taking into account urban sports.

The sports park is located right in the heart of the city, in connection with the central field. The place was already a playground and the first parkour park in Finland. After complete redesign of the area, these elements were accompanied by a complete fitness training complex, a senior sports area for the elderly, a basket ball area and graffiti walls.

Proud to tell you that Lappset used Nifo park furnitures for a public park that meets the diverse needs of users.

The municipality of Lerum in Sweden designed and implemented an accessible playground where every user was taken into account.

In public parks, it is important to take into account the versatile features and needs of the adults and children using the park - including those with functional and physical limitations. It is important that everyone is given equal opportunity to participate in play and sports. Inclusive Design playgrounds are designed to make them such that it is easy for everyone to move and play in them, which encourages all children to play together.

Den Nya Kartan / Ö-land

Andreas Klippinge Design was invited to take part of the exhibition Den Nya Kartan: Småland at the art and design museum Vandalorum in Värnamo (read previous blog post for more info). In collaboration with the table top manufacturer Ljungsåsa Andreas Klippinge have designed a set of low tables called Ö-land.

Ö-land has an exclusive table top of walnut, oak and ash. The advanced topographic shape is inspired by the archipelago of Småland (province in Sweden), where Andreas Klippinge grew up. The color difference between the wood species enhances the landscape formation and the chromed table stand is reminiscent of a mirror-like water surface.

The exhibition – Den Nya Kartan – is open between 9/4–29/5 at Vandalorum, showing a total of 40 collaborations between designers and industries/workshops from both the province of Skåne and Småland. Welcome!

From handicraft to industry – Den Nya Kartan / The New Map is showcasing the possibilities of local collaborations, between industries and designers/artists. The first round of Den Nya Kartan took place in the province of Skåne, with 24 different collaborations. As the exhibition moves to Vandalorum (museum of contemporary art and design in Värnamo, Småland, Sweden) the time has come for the province of Småland – well known for its large number of small industries – and the start-up of 16 new collaborations. Andreas Klippinge Design is happy to have been selected as one of the sixteen designer/artists to participate, teamed up together with industrial wood workshop Ljungsåsa, specialized in exclusive tabletops for home and public environment.

The exhibition is curated by Jenny Nordberg: Den Nya Kartan is a contribution to the debate on how local and small-scale production can be part of a sustainable society. Invitations to participate were sent out to designers and manufacturers. The invitations were preceded by a match-making exercise where we looked at earlier projects and skills and created constellations that felt exciting and challenging for everyone involved.
