From handicraft to industry – Den Nya Kartan / The New Map is showcasing the possibilities of local collaborations, between industries and designers/artists. The first round of Den Nya Kartan took place in the province of Skåne, with 24 different collaborations. As the exhibition moves to Vandalorum (museum of contemporary art and design in Värnamo, Småland, Sweden) the time has come for the province of Småland – well known for its large number of small industries – and the start-up of 16 new collaborations. Andreas Klippinge Design is happy to have been selected as one of the sixteen designer/artists to participate, teamed up together with industrial wood workshop Ljungsåsa, specialized in exclusive tabletops for home and public environment.
The exhibition is curated by Jenny Nordberg: Den Nya Kartan is a contribution to the debate on how local and small-scale production can be part of a sustainable society. Invitations to participate were sent out to designers and manufacturers. The invitations were preceded by a match-making exercise where we looked at earlier projects and skills and created constellations that felt exciting and challenging for everyone involved.
AKD has designed a new website for Italienska Palatset, together with web developers Intendit (sketches above).
Italian Palace (Italienska Palatset) in Växjo, in Sweden, houses a contemporary art gallery, studio compound providing studios for members working in different artistic fields, public workshops, concert hall, etc. Italienska Palatset is also were the AKD design studio is located.
Applause for the Nifo park furnitures would have been enough, but handstands are just awesome! Park furnitures Nifo together with the big Arkad planter for Lappset at the Elmia Park fair 2015. Thanks for the show Team Physix!
Plant your eyes on the Arkad planters, by Andreas Klippinge Design for Lappset. I was so happy when I first saw the final prototype that I had to plant myself in it! Beside holding a person, lots of floral joy fits in Arkad, or even a cactus or a tree!
The planter is perceived as soft by its arched sides and leaves the ground through an arch shape, giving the vessels a light impression. Arkad ships in flat packages and is assembled by a simple installation, the planters are also stackable and can be ordered in almost any colour you'd like!
Follow Lappset Group or Lappset Sweden on Facebook for more updates.
The other week park furniture series Nifo got a final check, some last fine tuning and is now ready for the market! Nifo is designed by Andreas Klippinge Design for Lappset – Lappset Group Oy is one of the leading manufacturers of playground equipment worldwide and park equipment in Scandinavia.
Nifo is a complete range of furniture with sofa, two-seat sofa, bench, table, armchair and stool, all availble with or without armrests. The series has a soft rounded design made of wood and metal. A distinctive feature of Nifo is the small knob on the armrests. There one can hang their purse or bag, and of course, it is also helpful when to get up!
