Andreas Klipping Design

Andreas Klippinge specializes in sustainable design for industrial manufacturing in furniture, lighting, and everyday objects. He was educated at the Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden, where he continues to reside and operate his studio, since 2011. He holds a BFA in design with a focus on sustainable development.

"I believe that my design is perceived as functional, inviting, and simple. Human behavior is often the source of my inspiration, along with references from design and art history. The end product should be humble toward the user, include details that improve everyday life, have a long lifespan, be recyclable, and please the eye."

The studio has a fascination with high quality and industrial production, and enjoys working in close collaboration to design products that reflect the client's values and the needs of the market.

A sustainable design perspective runs through all partnerships in the form of conscious material choices and manufacturing processes that consider not only economic and technical, but also environmental and social aspects.

In the making

Andreas Klippinge Design, always in the center of creation, yet in different stages... The picture shows the work on a mock-up, part of a series of furniture in a just recently started collaboration with a producer.

In the work with another company, I am now somewhere between the middle and the end of the design process, by completing construction drawings for the first prototype of a series of park furniture.

Wood flooring manufacturer Kährs in Nybro has initiated the development of prototypes of my floor design Dare to be square to be made in their production processes, the result will be very exciting to see. In the meantime can my prototype of the floor be viewed in a design exhibition at Smålands museum in Växjö during the summer. The exhibition is called Rum för rester and is displayed between 25/5-26/8.

Skapande Skola / Model making

I'm still engaged in Skapande Skola on Fagrabäck school in Växjö. This is my fourth round since fall of 2010 as a mentor and source of inspiration for the school's eighth graders. The teams, with two pupils in each, have together with me selected their best idea for some kind of sitting device suiting a team specific target group and currently work is underway for all teams to produce scale models of their sketches and drawings.

The Swedsih Arts Council's Skapande Skola is designed to strengthen collaboration between schools and professional culture. The goal is that pupils will have access to all expressions of culture and that their opportunities for personal creativity increases.
