The School of Design at Linnaeus University organized an international design conference, Cumulus Kalmar 2013, lasting for four days – AKD was asked to cover the conference as photographer. The conference consisted of several workshops in fields such as Fashion & Textile, Interior & Furniture, Digital Culture, Design Innovation, Sustainability, Glass, Contemporary Art and Design Philosophy. And included keynote speakers like Victor Margolin, David Craaford, Thomas Markussen, Jana Revedin, Erika Lagerbielke and Lars Dafnäs.
In the slideshow above (requires Adobe Flash Player) you find samples of my work, from the city of Kalmar and the island of Öland.
Cumulus is the International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media. The only global association to serve art and design education and research. It is a forum for partnership and transfer of knowledge and best practices. Cumulus currently consists of 189 members from 46 countries.
AKD has been part of a rural development project – as part of entrepreneurial research at the Linnaeus University. AKD was involved in the investigation of the local conditions in the district Älmeboda, in Småland, to create venues around the lake Rävsjön.
With my design I want to unite the area around the lake and create platforms that brings people together. The concepts includes sauna, walking/jogging trail, picnic area and bathing jetty – which came about through discussions with the residents and their own wishes of developing the area and the community. A couple of samples from the visualization can be viewed in the slideshow above.
The concepts have been well received by the local population, the feasibility study is completed and has been submitted by the Linnaeus University to the district association and hopefully AKD will be a part in the realization and serve as a basis for further research by the University.
The exhibition Young Green Design at Virserum Art Museum has been extended, so you will be able to see the wooden floor design, Dare to be square, by AKD till the 15th of september 2013.
Andreas Klippinge Design's wood-floor Dare to be square for Kährs will be displayed in an exhibition called Young Green Design at Virserum Art Museum during Feb 2nd - Apr 14th 2013. The main theme is sustainability – How can design make minimal environmental impact? Can design conserve material resources?
Ewa Kumlin, the managing director of Svensk Form, will open the exhibition at the vernissage on feb 3rd, 14:00.
Other participants:
Niklas Bonnevier, David Eriksson, Form Us With Love, Carl-Oscar Karlsson, Samad Kasrayan, Göran Lindblad, Patrik Magnusson, Stefan Sankovic, Camilla Sandgren and Johanna Strand.
Andreas Klippinge Design, always in the center of creation, yet in different stages... The picture shows the work on a mock-up, part of a series of furniture in a just recently started collaboration with a producer.
In the work with another company, I am now somewhere between the middle and the end of the design process, by completing construction drawings for the first prototype of a series of park furniture.
Wood flooring manufacturer Kährs in Nybro has initiated the development of prototypes of my floor design Dare to be square to be made in their production processes, the result will be very exciting to see. In the meantime can my prototype of the floor be viewed in a design exhibition at Smålands museum in Växjö during the summer. The exhibition is called Rum för rester and is displayed between 25/5-26/8.
